André Figeat, represents the 9th generation of this family estate. Skillfully trained by his father Edmond, he cultivates nearly 17 hectares of vines (mainly planted in Sauvignon) in various terroirs of the commune of Pouilly-sur-Loire and the Côte du Nozet.
André Figeat, passionate and perfectionist, reveals in his wines the diversity and richness of his terroirs in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Like most successful winemakers, the Figeats make no compromises in their vineyards. They use a rigorous year-round natural regime, relying on the know-how of their ancestors rather than chemical herbicides, pesticides and fungicides. In the winery, temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks are used for both fermentation and aging to capture and preserve the Sauvignon character of each Pouilly-Fumé terroir.
Domaine Figeat produces two classic but quite different Pouilly-Fumé wines: Les Chaumierres and Cuvée XXL - Côte du Nozet. In exceptional vintages, the Figeats also produce a Cuvée de Prestige from their oldest plot of vines composed of flint soil with large stones. Their philosophy is to work with respect for tradition and the environment while being at the cutting edge of technology, to reveal through their wines the pure expression of great terroirs. André’s daughter, Anne-Sophie, a pharmacist and oenologist, represents the tenth generation and intends to contribute to the family history.
