Bodega Berroja is located in the heart of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve, a natural area declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1984. It rises up to 250 metres above sea level, offering spectacular panoramic views that highlight the beauty of the reserve.

The 24-hectare vineyard, located in the municipality of Muxika, in the Bizkaia district of the Spanish Basque Country, is protected by the Bizkaiko Txakolina designation of origin. In operation since 1997, the estate grows local grape varieties such as Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza, as well as Riesling. Passionate about wine and committed to new experiences, Bodega Berroja produces Txakoli, a typical white wine from the Spanish Basque region whose origins date back to the 9th century. Txakoli (or txacoli) is made from the Indigenous Hondarribi zuri grape variety, which produces light, lively wines with refreshing acidic notes resulting from the slight addition of CO2 during bottling. It is classified under three controlled designations: txakoli de Getaria (1989), txakoli de Bizkaia (1994), produced in terroirs from the coast of Vizcaya to the Orduña region in the south, and txakoli d’Álava (2001), produced in particular around Laudio, Amurrio and Okondo.

The vineyard is trained in double Guyot with nutrient control at substrate level, green pruning and certified in integrated production techniques.
Bodega Berroja’s values are based on three fundamental principles: sustainability, uniqueness and exclusivity, which are ensured by its location in the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve: the altitude at which it is situated, above the mists and frosts of the valley, and the uniform geology of the land on which its vineyards grow.
At Berroja, modernity is in harmony with nature, creating an environment that reflects a commitment to sustainability and quality.
